Astaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment that is found in freshwater and marine life such as trout, shrimp, salmon and algae, which gives them their pink colouring. Its unique molecular structure makes it a powerful antioxidant that neutralises the damaging effects of free radicals that cause oxidative stress.
